Certifications

Self certification in the System for Award Management (SAM) is not the same as an official certification/award certification from the federal government (8a, HubZone, VOSB, SDVOSB, WOSB, EDWOSB). A local certification is not recognized by the federal government when seeking out federal set-aside contracts. A self-certification does not enable a company to participate in the set-aside contract program.

 

Local government entities like the City of Los Angeles or the State of Califonria also certify small businesses as DBE, SBE, SLBE, DVBE. Or you can certify your business as a WBE or MBE with one of the national organizations (WBENC or NMSDC). Hundreds of major U.S. corporations and federal, state and local government entities recognize the the NMSDC and WBENC certifications.
